Robotic Laser System, Laser Robot
BRIC Engineered Systems
| The BRIC Laser Robot is designed to integrate CO2 or Fiber Lasers for
complete decoating capability. Laser technology has been proven to be a viable alternative to
remanufacturing operations, replacing toxic chemicals currently used in decoating processes. The Laser process
is based on ablation, whereby laser parameters are optimized for the substrate's ability to
absorb energy. Metal parts work best since once the coating is removed, the bare metal will reflect the laser
beam instead of absorbing it. The residue from this process is not considered hazardous and can thus
simply be vacuumed and disposed of with regular waste.

Our latest Robot design, the Mantis, is a 5 axis articulated design used for CO2 or fiber based Laser applications. The design incorporates the beam delivery and mirror system in the case of CO2 lasers. This robot was designed for low volume high product mix applications in mind – and that means no part programming is required. Designed with the BRIC Contour Following feature, this robot does not require programming, but instead follows the contour of the parts for accurate, consistent, coating removal. This Robotic Laser System has been tested and proven on aluminum aircraft components and composites. Systems are currently installed and in use by the United States Air Force. |
