Media Blast Robot

Robotic Blast System, Media Blast Robot

BRIC Engineered Systems

The BRIC Media Blast Robot is designed to integrate blast pots for complete decoating capability. Designed with the BRIC Contour Following feature, this robot does not require programming, instead follows the contour of the parts for accurate, consistent, coating removal. This Robotic Blast System has been tested and proven on aluminum aircraft components and composites. The BRIC Media Blast Robots are strictly electric servo based and do not make use of any hydraulics, eliminating the costly maintenance associated with such systems. The robots are covered for protection against the blast media process itself. If rails are required to increase the robot envelope, they are fully integrated into the floor media recovery system, and are flush or slightly recessed from floor level as to not interfere with the aircraft movement into and out of the booth. Locator beacons can be used to provide exact aircraft position and orientation to the robots for repeatable results. Each robot is outfitted with an automated continuous feed air lock type blast pot. Settings for each of the blast pots are Operator accessible from the main console in the control room. One key element to a successful and reliable blast system is the proper integration of all the various components and equipment involved in the process. With our design approach, all components and equipment are fully integrated into one computer control system. This means the Operator in the control room has access to all the components, and equipment from the Operator Computer Screen and does not need to go to the equipment in question to check on its status. All signals from the dust collectors, the pneumatic conveying & cleaning system, the media storage and the robotic system are monitored and controlled by one main computer control system. Doing so provides the ability to fully automate the system, and maximizes the Operators ability to access information on any part of the overall blast system, giving them the opportunity to monitor performance, progress, and react quickly to maintenance issues or process changes. The collection of such data also enables the optimization of setups, and process control parameters to enhance overall efficiencies and quality
